MTS is excited to welcome Keith Hefner to the position of Vice President of Program Management Services for MTS. Keith joined our team on January 14, 2019.

Keith is retiring from a 34 year career at NASA where he served as the Director of NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans since January 2017.  In this role, he provided oversight and management of the multi-tenant facility where key elements of NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and the Orion spacecraft are being built.  Prior to this position, Keith was Associate Program Manager of NASA's SLS Program Office where he managed all SLS program activities.  Prior to his SLS Associate Program Manager role, Keith served as the SLS Program Planning and Control (PP&C) Manager leading all resource formulation and execution aspects of the Program.  In the SLS PP&C role, he also led SLS's engagement in cross-program integration and strategic planning activities.

Prior to joining SLS, Keith served as the Program Manager of the Chandra X-Ray Observatory, the Chandra PP&C Manager, and also led the Space Systems Programs and Projects Office at MSFC.  In these roles, he oversaw the design, development, integration, test, launch and operations of multiple science and technology development programs and projects.  He has extensive experience in developing lifecycle cost estimates and has formulated, executed, and overseen budgets in excess of $9B.

Keith has been recognized with many awards throughout his distinguished career including two NASA Exceptional Service Medals, the NASA Silver Snoopy, and multiple Center Commendation awards.  He holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Alabama.
